University of Chicago School Mathematics Project
The University of Chicago School Mathematics Project (UCSMP), created in 1983, offers materials for grades K-12 as an alternative to traditional teaching. Textbooks, teacher resourse kits, workbooks and manipulatives are provided to aid students of all abilities understand mathematics. Emphasis in real life applications are made and many hands-on activities are provided.
The goal of UCSMP is to improve the performance and participation levels of the vast majority of students. The project attempts to accomplish this through the use of applications, readings, problem solving, and technology to lay the groundwork for the depth and breadth of mathematics understanding.
